Devastated by A Job Loss!

When you lose your job, it feels like the world is ending. For a lot of people, their job is their identity and their source of income.

I know exactly how this feels.  Over the course of my career, I have been on both sides of this story.  As an HR professional,  I have been called upon to deliver the difficult news of a job loss to countless employees. I have also been laid off twice, and both times it felt like my world was crashing down around me.

Job loss can cause feelings of insecurity, fear, anxiety, and depression. It is hard not to think about what lies ahead and feel overwhelmed by not knowing what the future holds. This is particularly true when you’ve been with an organization for a long time.

It is completely normal to feel grief and sadness, but it’s important to remember that there are also opportunities ahead of you. When I was laid off from my job, I used the time to reflect on what I wanted in a career and my professional goals.

You Are Not Alone!

The important thing to remember when going through a job loss is that you are not alone. Although it may feel like it, there is light at the end of the tunnel and there are always other options available to you. Instead of focusing on all the negative aspects of your situation, take some

So what do you do when you suddenly find yourself out of a job? Here are a few steps to help you get through this difficult time. First, don’t panic. Losing your job is definitely not ideal, but it’s not the end of the world. Second, take some time for yourself. You need to give yourself some time to process everything that’s going on. Third, start networking. Reach out to your friends and family members for advice and assistance in finding a new job. Finally, don’t give up. Keep looking for jobs until you find one that’s a good fit for you. Trust me, things will get better eventually.”

Strategic Steps to Move Forward

1) Don’t panic- Losing your job is definitely not ideal but it’s not the end of the world!

2) Take some time for yourself- You need some “you” time to process everything going on

3) Start networking- reach out to your friends and family members for support in finding a new job 

4) Don’t give up- keep looking until you find something that fits well with what you want  5)Stay positive- Things will get better in time!
